The Ontario Teacher's Pension Plan purchase of AIG's Canadian mortgage insurance division is an interesting one from the aspect that First National's Stephen Smith is involved in the transaction. Stephen Smith has been an innovator at First National with his state of the art technology that has driven First National's success. A third player on the mortgage insurance scene and second private player along with Genworth Financial bodes well for consumers.
